Ames Shuel purchased H.P. Chemical in 1964 with the vision to establish a janitorial company that would provide the best products available, the best services and support possible, at competitive prices. HP began with just two full-time and three part-time employees, making deliveries with only one van. The company’s home was located in downtown Indianapolis, 20 West Washington Street.
Growth quickly ensued and the headquarters relocated to its present location at 4220 Saguaro Trail, Indianapolis. The company continued to expand its operations. In 1988, 20,000 sq.ft. of additional warehouse and 8,000 sq.ft. of office space was added to the original building. With continued acquisitions in Ohio, Kentucky and Michigan, space was at a premium. In 2000, Bridget Shuel-Walker assumed the role and responsibilities of President. In 2002, a huge expansion took place adding over 97,000 sq. ft. to the warehouse area and 20,000 sq.ft. to the offices, including a state-of-the-art conference center and a beautiful Will-Call area that represents our grassroots. Today we have over 500,000 sq. ft. of combined warehouse space throughout the Midwest.
On June 9th, 2014, we joined forces with a global industry leader to become a wholly owned subsidiary of Ferguson Enterprises, Inc. This decision strengthens our position in the industry and enables us to offer our customers a wider variety of products and services for the future. We now operate as HP Products, a Ferguson enterprise.
Our team of employees has grown to over 400 individuals and continues to expand. Our dedicated employees are outstanding performers who continue to improve our customer service through various corporate programs including: ISO 9001:2008 registration, extensive product training and education, Green Certification programs, quarterly and annual efficiency reviews, and participation in industry organizations such as I.S.S.A., Network Services, and NPTA. HP Products also contributes to many charities and organizations and participates in community improvement.
